Join us for a one-day workshop of introduction to relief printing using the woodcut technique. This beginner-friendly workshop will guide you through the entire process of creating your own woodcut print—from carving the panel of wood to hand-printing with oil-based ink on beautiful Japanese washi paper.  

By the end of the session, you'll have the confidence and knowledge to continue printing at home— even in your kitchen!

You’ll learn how to:

• Prepare and transfer an image onto wood

• Carve the image with tools safely

• Work with oil-based ink

• Produce a single-colour print

• Use a baren pad to hand-print onto washi paper

• Clean all tools and maintain them​

What’s provided:

• A new set of wood carving knives (yours to take home)

• One A5 woodcut panel (210mm x 148mm)

• A baren pad for hand-printing (also yours to take home)

• Oil-based ink and Japanese washi paper for use during the workshop

• Postage and packaging for your finished prints (to be sent once dry)

 

You need to bring:

• A simple A5 image that you will recreate as a print

• An apron or something to cover your clothes

 

This will be an exciting, inspiring, and fun workshop where you'll learn a new skill in a relaxed studio environment.
